Purpose of sensor pod installation experiment.

Sensor pods for terrain measurement need to be installed high above the ground surface in order to grasp a wide range of terrain, and they must be stable even on sloping ground. In particular, when installing a sensor pod and tripod set on a slope, it is necessary to have the technology to install the tripod with the leg openings and lengths adjusted in advance in the optimal orientation for the slope direction.

For this reason, a device capable of controlling the direction of tripod installation was developed and set between the drone and the tripod. Furthermore, a grasping device that can detect when the tripod is placed on the ground and automatically disengage from the directional control device was also used, and an experiment was conducted to place a tripod suspended from a drone on an incline. The results of the experiment confirmed that the tripod could be set up without tipping over, even on an incline.
