We conducted a demonstration of the sensing equipment in a simulated environment of river channel blockage(Futase Dam).
The University of Tokyo, Kokusai Kogyo Corporation, and Kogakuin University are developing sensing equipment of a size and weight that can be transported to remote locations to acquire environmental information when river channel blockages occur. These can measure the water depth in the waterlogged area and the topographic change after the occurrence of river channel blockage. In addition, because the site is located in a mountainous area and the communication environment is not good, a communication system capable of transmitting measurement data over long distances is also required. The photo shows the operation of the sensing equipment and acquisition of measurement data at the upstream area of Futase Dam (Chichibu City), which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
