Site visits to river channel blockages were conducted.
Site visits to river channel blockages were conducted at the end of June 2021. The first location was the Imogawa River basin (Jun. 25th) in Nagaoka City (former Yamakoshi Village), Niigata Prefecture, where a river channel blockage occurred due to the 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake. The second location was the Urakawa-Hime River basin (Jun. 26th) in Otari Village, Kita-Azumi-gun, Nagano Prefecture, where a river channel blockage occurred due to the 1911 Mt. Hida collapse. The participants deepened their understanding of the phenomenon’s scale and tried to imagine disaster response scenarios and systems.
